“Swipe, tap, scroll”. These gestures have effortlessly inserted themselves into our daily vocabulary in the same way that our bodies have adapted to making these movements almost unconsciously. For this project, I wanted to recall these movements – bringing them from the virtual world into the physical world. The lamp gives tangible value to such gestures and offers a reflection of cultural identities and forms of expression.
The Moonlight Lamp creates a unique relationship between the user and the physical object – the intensity of the light is regulated by swiping the sphere, an interaction that came spontaneously seeing the object. The materials and colours also underline the simplicity of the shapes, as if it’s a quick sketch on paper.
